As a result of the numerous and serious losses caused by Covid 19, the project "SOS for those who remain" was born, promoted by the private Facebook group with free registration Focus 3.0 il mistero della vita with the voluntary support of two other Turin entities: the Tonglen ODV Association and the In Corde Scientia Popular University.
The project is non-profit and aims to alleviate the suffering due to the severity of bereavements (numerous and experienced in solitude) and the lack of terminal accompaniment of loved ones, made unreachable by the confinement of hospitals and nursing homes.
"SOS for those who remain" offers the population three levels of support free of charge:
- a monthly live broadcast of about two hours on the private Facebook group Focus 3.0 the mystery of life, a sort of interactive lesson where people can ask their questions;
- dedicated WhatsApp chats where users can tell each other stories and support each other and where they will continue the dialogue with the thanatologist;
- the intervention of the volunteers of the Tonglen ODV Association of Turin who will offer, where necessary, individual or group accompaniment via telephone, chat and video call, i.e. the means that the limitations imposed by the pandemic will allow to use.
From this project other dedicated groups were born:
- "SOS Covid mourning", reserved for people who have experienced bereavement alone due to Covid 19;
- "SOS I lost a child", reserved for mothers and fathers who have lost a child;
- "SOS perinatal bereavement", reserved for mothers and fathers who are experiencing or have experienced perinatal bereavement.
